Hi! It is me, Alex. I hope you're having a wonderful summer — I know I am! My family and I have been spending a lot of time outdoors in Colorado, and it's been such a joy. The beauty of nature here fills me with gratitude and inspires me to paint. The lush grass on the high plains and the carefree summer clouds create a sense of freedom that's unique to this season, lifting my spirits.
New Work
Of course, I had to channel these impressions onto paper. I'm excited to share my latest painting with you: a 36”x 24” watercolor on Arches paper ↓
In this piece, I aimed to capture this summer’s vibe — the playful clouds, the rolling waves of grass, and the distant mountain range composed with a mix of fluid and precise shapes. I included a couple of elks to enjoy the scene and keep the viewer company :)
Old Work
While looking through my older works to select something for this newsletter, one piece really stood out — it turns out I painted a similar summer vibe several years ago! I think it was the first summer when both of my boys were confidently walking and starting to explore nature, having their first little adventures. Their innocent amusement and excitement were contagious, and I saw the beauty around me through their eyes.
Future Plans
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news — I’ve been accepted into the Open Studios show in Colorado! My work will be on display during the first three weekends in October in the town of Niwot. I'm really looking forward to it and am spending all my free time preparing for the event. There's a lot to do, and I hope to share more details with you in the next newsletter.
Sincerely yours,
Alex
