Hi! It's me, Alex, and this is the very first email newsletter dedicated to my weird art! I am excited to share my artistic journey with you, but first, let me tell you a bit about myself.
I live in the beautiful Colorado Front Range with my amazing wife and our two little sons. We take care of each other, play, laugh, and spend lots of time outdoors in the stunning Rocky Mountains. When the day is over and the kids are tucked in their beds, I sneak into my little studio, take a brush, and paint..
New Work
Below is my latest piece, which I am finishing up this month. It is a 36”x24” watercolor on premium French paper, filled with subtle details for the attentive viewer to discover. Please take a look..
What did you notice? There are tree reflections, a coyote couple, hazy mountains, and clouds flowing through them. All these details required careful planning and meticulous execution. Watercolor is an unforgiving medium; there is no magical “undo” button, so you have to plan ahead.
Old Work
I also want to share one of my earlier works. Below is one of my first successful creations. It may not be for everyone, as it is dark and witty, perhaps a bit too grim or sarcastic. The underwater cup of coffee is absurd—how can an octopus drink underwater?!
To be honest, I didn't think much about these elements when I created this piece. I just picked up an ink pen and drew it, believing I was making it solely for myself. It seemed too bizarre, too niche for anyone to like. But to my surprise, there were like-minded individuals who could appreciate it.
Future Plans
Having shared both my new and old work with you, I’m sure you’ve noticed the distinct difference in style. I intend to expand on this difference in the future. But for now, I’d like to step back and talk about the idea behind this email list.
Currently, my main purpose for this newsletter is to go in depth about art and share some personal moments with you. I’m not sure exactly how this will evolve, and I hope you can help me figure it out. I would love to hear from you, please let me know if you enjoyed this read or not? How can it be better? What topics I should cover?
Sincerely yours,
Alex
